09 Feb Firefly Photonics, LLC awarded $100,000 from Iowa Economic Development Authority
Firefly Photonics was awarded $100,000 Demonstration Fund loan from the Iowa Economic Development Authority. The funds will support commercialization of mid-wave infrared light emitting diodes (LED) and photodetectors (PD) used in small, battery-operated methane and carbon dioxide sensors. Firefly Photonics’ mid-wave infrared LED delivers industry leading brightness and power efficiency. Their mid-wave infrared PD demonstrates high sensitivity, without cooling. Through these performance advantages, Firefly Photonics’ components enable much needed sensor size reductions and battery life increases. The demand for methane and carbon dioxide sensing continues to grow and is driven by important environmental, industrial, and safety applications all benefiting from smaller, longer battery life gas sensors.
